No About us page: what Google expects

Google is trying to tell whether there is a real business behind the store. A page explaining who you are is the cheapest evidence you can give it, and most young stores skip it.

What the policy actually says

«Make sure your website has updated contact information and a clear explanation of what your company does, like on an “About us” page.»

Official policy  ·  quoted word for word, checked against the source on 2026-09-20.

This one blocks the product, or the whole account.

How to fix it in Shopify

  1. Create a page explaining who you are, where you are based and what you sell.
  2. Write it as a person, not as a company brochure. Google is looking for signs of a real business.
  3. Link it from the footer and, if you can, from the main menu.

Check your whole store for this

Doing this by hand for one product is easy. Doing it for every product, and for the store-level rules that suspend accounts, is not. Type your store address and see where you stand, with the policy quoted next to each finding.
