Missing brand: the Vendor field in Shopify

The confusing part is the name: Google calls it "brand" and Shopify calls it "Vendor", so people fill it with their supplier, or leave it blank. If you make the product yourself, the brand is you.

What the policy actually says

«Required for each product with a clearly associated brand or manufacturer.»

Official policy  ·  quoted word for word, checked against the source on 2026-09-20.

This one costs you visibility rather than blocking you.

How to fix it in Shopify

  1. In Shopify, open the product and find the "Vendor" field in the Product organization panel.
  2. Write the brand a buyer would recognise, not your supplier or your wholesaler.
  3. If you are the manufacturer, as with handmade or custom items, put your own store name.
  4. Leave it empty only when the product genuinely has no brand, like a generic book or poster.

Check your whole store for this

Doing this by hand for one product is easy. Doing it for every product, and for the store-level rules that suspend accounts, is not. Type your store address and see where you stand, with the policy quoted next to each finding.
