Broken links on your Shopify store

Broken links almost always come from the menus: a page or collection that was deleted, renamed or unpublished, while the menu kept pointing at its old address.

What the policy actually says

«Technical flaws: Your website contains placeholder content, broken links, or lacks a secure checkout process.»

Official policy  ·  quoted word for word, checked against the source on 2026-10-04.

This one costs you visibility rather than blocking you.

How to fix it in Shopify

  1. In Shopify: Online Store, then Navigation. Open the main menu and the footer menu.
  2. Click each link from your live store and note the ones that show a "page not found".
  3. Point them to the right page, or delete them from the menu.
  4. If you renamed a page on purpose, add a redirect in Navigation, then URL Redirects.

Check your whole store for this

Doing this by hand for one product is easy. Doing it for every product, and for the store-level rules that suspend accounts, is not. Type your store address and see where you stand, with the policy quoted next to each finding.
